Laser liposuction is the latest in fat removal surgery. Laser liposuction is much faster, almost pain free and safer than conventional liposuction surgery. During a conventional liposuction the fat is removed by inserting a cannula into the body which literally sucks the excessive fat out of the body. The advantage of this method is that a large amount of fat can be removed instantly. Disadvantages can be probable tissue and nerve damage and another surgery might be needed to remove the excessive skin. Laser liposuction on the other hand can only be applied to smaller areas of the body and the amount of fat which can be removed is limited. It is much less invasive than normal and also ultrasonic liposuction because laser energy is heating up the fat cells so that the fat liquefies. For this a very little cannula containing the laser is inserted in the area where the fat shall be removed. After the laser has done its work, you have two options. Either the fat remains there and you wait several weeks or months that your body emits the fat from alone or your cosmetic surgeon removes the fat immediately with a second cannula. Laser liposuction is very popular to remove stubborn fat in certain small areas of your body, or in areas where other types of liposuction may be too risky like in the face area. The costs for laser liposuction are between $500 and $2500 and since you can go back home or to work right after your surgery, it is becoming popular quickly.
